10 Facts about the Crown Bar Belfast
Fact 1:
The cities most famous bar located on Great Victoria Street was built back in 1826, in true Victorian style making it the oldest pub in Belfast.
Fact 2:
It hasn’t always been called “The crown”. It originally traded by the name “The Railway Tavern”.
Fact 3:
Since its grand opening, it has been renovated twice before rebranding to the now “The Crown Liquor Salon” back in 1855 when it transitioned through ownership.
Fact 4:
It is now owned by the National Trust.
It is listed as a Grade A listed building, and when it is shut it is protected by cast iron gates!
Fact 5:
The interior has stayed true to its original roots with dark hand crafted booths and lit by gas lamps.
Fact 6:
You don’t have to worry about being seen from the outside. All windows are stained glass decorated with fairies, clowns etc.
Fact 7:
The bell still works to this very day! Waiters used to be called via the antique bell system. It is still linked up and working today even though device being at the bar only.

It is the most bombed a Pub in Belfast.
Fact 9:
It has a total of 10 “snugs” inside. Giving you a private area with doors that the staff ensure are kept closed. They sit about 10 people per snug.

The floors are all tiled, right from the mosaic crown in the entrance through the entire floor inside.
